So, you've booked your boudoir session! Now what?
I get asked LOTS of questions about Do's and Don't's when it comes to session prep, so here I have thrown together a list of the most important ones, from my proffesional opinion and preference.
First and foremost, and most importantly, it’s imperative you don’t do anything extreme or out of your ordinary beauty routine!
Things such as tanning in a tanning bed, applying self tanner, waxing your body hair, getting a tattoo and or any type of permanent makeup, or getting any kind of extreme facial performed like dermabrasion or chemical peels.
Avoid excessive sun expoure!
Tan lines and sunburns are not something I edit out, so please be cautious of how much time you're spending in the UV rays! Use your sunscreen! Hydrate! Getting enough water in your daily intake helps keep your skin clearer, keep brain fog at bay, increase your energy levels, and helps keep your digestion smooth and regular.
Avoid self tanners / lotions! if they rubs off onto my furniture, lingerie or linens, you’ll be liable to replace them - so please don’t use them, or at the minimum give them enough time to fully absorb & shower prior to your session. Orange blotchiness as a result from self tanners also will not be able to be blended or edited out!
Double check your wardrobe choices! Take into consideration where your shoot is taking place (indoors vs. outdoors) and given what you’re comfortable exposing. And please note, that as a female professional and mom and wife, I am not intimidated by nudity in the slightest! My goal is for you to be comfortable whilst still feeling sexy! I have done every range across the spectrum of nudity when it comes to these sessions.
And on the topic of wardrobe, please carefully remove any tags from your lingerie pieces or bra and undies that may be visible during your session. If you prefer, please also bring along a simple nude + black thong to wear under any garments of mine if you wish. (this is not required, as I wash AND sanitize every item, after every use, even if it was just tried on - BUT if you choose, you may bring them to wear under any of my garments.)
Read my blog post HERE about non-lingerie outfit options:
Avoid copious amounts of alcohol. Not detailing the negative effects too much, it's important you have an unclouded and rested mind, without a nasty hangovere lingering over your experience!
Stretch a little also, if you're routine allows. Doing some light stretching each day, during the weeks leading up to your session will help you be more limber, and decrease the liklihood that you'll be sore followin your session. On the day of your shoot, wear as loose of fitting of clothing as you can get away with. We want to minimize the appearane of imprints from bras, jeans, etc. (More stretching!)
And lastly, but certainly just as important, PLEASE get plenty of rest the night before!
It's so crucial you are rested and feeling your best with a clear and relaxed mind.
